The Schwartz Law Firm was started by Samuel A. Schwartz, who is licensed to practice law in the States of Arizona, Florida, Illinois and Nevada. Mr. Schwartz’s practice focuses on representing consumers either considering bankruptcy or selling their homes short of the amount owed to their lenders, and companies facing bankruptcy. Many individuals and companies do not know their rights and Mr. Schwartz works to prosecute the claims of those consumers and protect their assets. Mr.
Experience
Schwartz’s experience includes defending consumers from foreclosure proceedings, representing individuals in Chapters 7, 13 and 11 of the Bankruptcy Code, as well as commercial bankruptcy. In addition to representing consumers, Mr. Schwartz represented numerous clients in chapter 11-related matters including The Williams Companies, Inc., Chiquita Brands International, W. R. Grace & Co., Trans World Airlines, Zenith Electronics Corporation, United Artists, Mirant Energy, Harnishfeger Industries and World Access Communications, among others. During the first quarter 2010, Mr. Schwartz helped 6 individuals confirm their Chapter 11 cases, which resulted in the elimination of over $10,000,000 of consumer and residential debt. In addition to handling all aspects of bankruptcy and restructuring workouts, Mr. Schwartz worked on corporate matters, specifically acquisitions, mergers, general corporate representation and real estate.
Practice
Mr. Schwartz’s practice also focuses on real estate and short sales. A short sale is a transaction where a residential property is sold for less than the amount owed to a lender or lenders. Starting in 2007, Mr. Schwartz began representing individuals and companies seeking to sell their properties and during that time, Mr. Schwartz expanded his practice to include the Truth In Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, various state law predatory lending laws, as well as the application of such laws in bankruptcy. As a result, Mr. Schwartz is uniquely qualified to advise individuals and businesses of the advantages to their long term financial future of pursuing either bankruptcy or short sales.
Education
Mr. Schwartz attended the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Loyola Law School – Chicago.
